MARS 2030
Movie Campaign Design
BACKGROUND
A movie poster created to learn Photoshop techniques at class.
DESIGN PROBLEM
The aim of the project was to use primarily 'masking' techniques to design a poster, for any movie of our choice, I selected Mission To Mars and also renamed it Mars 2030. I wanted to create a poster to suit newer audiences but keep it dramatic and true to the movie’s powerful script. I also designed marketing collaterals for the movie.
DESIGN PROCESS
The design process involved studying the concept of the term Mars and identifying the iconic images from the movie. I wanted to show the emotions of an astronaut, the first manned mission to Mars in 2030. And how ends in disaster when one of the crew is seemingly killed and is stranded with no way to contact Earth. And how an astronaut is sent on a rescue mission to rescue any survivors and find out what happened.
The team uncovers startling evidence that Mars may not be a dead planet after all. While in my designs and yet be able to showcase Mars’s furiousness and gigantic frame. I also researched on other ambient advertising campaigns to incorporate it into my design solution.
I selected an image with dramatic colored skies and used extensive masking techniques on Photoshop, layers of curves to create the spotlight effects from Mars in the background, multiple blend modes to merge the elements with the background to create the canvas.
